It's kind of pissing me off. I can't sign to my malfunctioning Eddie msn, nor to any other msn-related site (hotmail.com, msn.com, not even meebo), cause it's giving me the 80048820 error. I looked at some sites for the possible solution for this problem, but nothing worked.
I also deleted nod32 but it still says that I have two antivirus programms turned on - w.defender and nod32. How could I fix that?
Help's appreciated, please. _________________ I'll never make the same mistake, so next time I create the universe I'll make sure we communicate at lenght. ♫ |

remove nod32? are you nuts?!?
if you're online, you NEED an antivirus app, or use a *nix based OS, since there aren't much virii for that.
this happening on all pc's, or just yours?
if the latter, the end-all solution is just a format and re-installing xp/vista/win2k/whatever you use.
seems there could be some dll problem, you tried this zip?
http://www.imzers.com/msn/solve/error-code-80048820
anything happened before it stopped working?
edit:
oh, and it's gnomes, not elfs _________________ Music over Matter |

I'm gonna go ahead and hijack this a bit.
I don't have any anti virus. What's a good freeware one I can use? _________________

Yes, I'm nuts. I'll go for a 'legal' antivp. With my luck I usually get a virus by downloading the antivp itself.
Link didn't work.
I downloaded and deleted nod the same day msn was kaput. I've got a note that two different firewalls can be causing shit and that I need just one. I can't even change the settings. _________________ I'll never make the same mistake, so next time I create the universe I'll make sure we communicate at lenght. ♫ |

just checked both links, both work.
what 2 firewalls you have? and yes, you only need 1 firewall, and more gives problems, same as 2 antivirus apps.
and like i asked, does it work on other computers? _________________ Music over Matter |

Oh forgot about that. Msn doesn't work on my laptop, nor on the roommate's computer. The first link won't show up - Cannot display yadada and the one with the avira opens normally but when I click to download and it opens in another window - well to my enormous surprise, that window doesn't open either.
Msn error like I said : 80048820 and extended one 8004840a
One big pile of fuck. ):
Oh and something else I found out. I wanted to install some of windows' upgrades and got another error - so im my nonexpert opinion the problem of this shit is in proxy or firewall (This issue may occur if proxy or firewall settings are configured incorrectly). GREAT. _________________ I'll never make the same mistake, so next time I create the universe I'll make sure we communicate at lenght. ♫ |

if it doesnt work on any computer in your network, see if you can check if it works outside of that, if not, it's probably microsoft's servers, and it'll pass, if not, it's indeed your network, but that's a lenghty thing, so i'll go in that road when you found out you need to.
how have you uninstalled nod32?
the bottom thingy is the popup blocker, IIRC, click on it, see what it says.
the other one is windows defender, btw, can't uninstall that if you have vista, can in XP, you can disable it in both. _________________ Music over Matter |

Yeah my friend signed with my name and all and it works perfectly well (just what I'd expect).
Don't bother with the lenghty thing, cause I'd get lost a million times and I'm a lost case when it comes to computers anyway.
Nod32, right-click unistall and then I just deleted the whole folder.
Clicked on the that thingy: "Phishing Filter cannot check this website because the Microsoft online service is temporarily unavailable."
I know I can't uninstall defender, but I would like to disable nod. _________________ I'll never make the same mistake, so next time I create the universe I'll make sure we communicate at lenght. ♫ |

Nod's not even on the list. Like it didn't exist, but does.
I'll give up soon enough.
And why would that process be lenghty? Wutz wrong with ma kamputeerrr? ):
Added: I deleted something related to msn with that program and then I went for option of cleaning out the dustbin (proof remover or whatever the heck, dunno the English expression cause I've got in my language). IT WORKS NOW!
Az, you're my hero. Thank you very much for the help! Now gimme your adress so I can send you a big present (and I promise not to use the addy for stalking reasons).
Thanks again! (: _________________ I'll never make the same mistake, so next time I create the universe I'll make sure we communicate at lenght. ♫ |

What did I remove? Good question. There was a 'windows live msg something weird' file on the list and the date of when I supposedly d/l installed it was 11.9. and I knew it wasn't me who did it. It must've been one of my friends who was too terrified to tell me afterwards. They probably thought "Oh shit, she's gonna smack my genitals if she finds out". And I would, cause I hate it when they're around my laptop and snoop around.
So I deleted that msg file, cleared out the dustbin and third thing was removing the programms that I didn't remove correctly and they might've been still on the pc.
Now it's all good. (: _________________ I'll never make the same mistake, so next time I create the universe I'll make sure we communicate at lenght. ♫ |
